- STEM Academy is an accelerated program of study for junior high (grades 7 and 8) students in the Vicksburg Warren School District. It provides project based learning opportunities for those students who exhibit exceptional abilities in academics. Students will have the opportunity to participate in learning processes that incorporate thinking, exploration, and projects while integrating college and career state standards in a STEM based environment.
- STEM Academy is a combination of individualized instruction and cooperative learning experiences designed to accommodate various learning styles. This dynamic blend of kinesthetic, visual, and auditory instructional methods aid student development pertaining to communication skills, building teamwork and leadership skills, refining workplace-readiness skills, and participating in relevant career-learning activities. Engaging, hands-on classroom environments support students as they complete student-directed learning units, self-directed lessons, and small-group collaborative activities.
- STEM Academy students are paired with a variety of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) classroom solutions that are equally robust and engaging. The academy is designed to supplement science, technology, engineering, and math concepts through the use of small-group investigation and experimentation. This blended element enables teachers to provide content that relates mutually with diverse pedagogy and methodology.
